The world is in turmoil at the moment.
That means our personal worlds are also in chaos.
It doesn’t matter where you live, or what country you live in. It doesn't even matter what political beliefs you have (or don’t have) chances are that your life is not as calm and relaxed as it was 5 or 10 years ago. There is a lot of uncertainty in this world.
A lot of possible changes are staring us in the face. There is the possibility of a war looming. Prices are about to go up. How do we maintain a level of inner peace through all this?
How do we go about daily life, believing in a future for ourselves and our children?
Most of us still have to work every day, pay bills, clean the house, care for children, and/or the elderly, do laundry, cook, try to have a social life, and keep our heads in a positive space.
Our current political climate is full of threats that chase us every time we see or read the news. We all have our personal belief systems that determine how we respond to it all. Maybe you’re a protester, a Congress caller, or a financial supporter, it doesn’t matter which ‘side’ you take on any of it, your stress level is still elevated.
Here are 10 ways you can keep your head in a good place, support your personal beliefs, and still be able to breathe in a calm matter.
Do breathing exercises daily. There are many different kinds, you can Google or YouTube some, or you can contact me for suggestions and guidance.
Keep social. Make contact with friends every week. More than once a week if possible. Do something fun with your friends and family. Try a hiking trip, cookout, knitting club, or get the gang together to go dancing.
Exercise. If you can’t afford to join a gym, you can exercise at home. There are plenty of free YouTube exercises you can watch. Play in the backyard with the kids or the dogs.
Start a garden. Working with soil is calming, it connects you with nature. It's a bonus if you plant vegetables. It will cut your grocery bill and you get to eat super fresh and nutritious food when it is time to harvest.
Find a hobby. Start something that feeds your soul. Try painting, working with clay, knitting, writing, or building birdhouses. Whatever sounds like it’d be fun and you could lose yourself in.
Take long walks in nature. Hug a tree. It’s called Forest Bathing and it's good for the soul.
Hug your partner, your kids, your pets. Give 20-second hugs. It’s good for all concerned.
If you believe in a higher power try communing with that Energy or Spirit. A lot of belief systems call it Prayer.
Play soothing music in the background as you go about your day.
This is my number one suggestion! Mediate! Meditation is AWESOME for you. Start with 10 minutes a day and build up to 30 per day. You will experience a huge difference in how you feel.
We will get through this. Enjoy life! Help others enjoy life! Be the way you want the world to be!
